The Speaker discussing the EU integration process of Georgia with the Vice-President of the European Parliament

Chairman of Parliament 17 May 2021
The Speaker discussing the EU integration process of Georgia with the Vice-President of the European Parliament

The Speaker, Kakha Kutchava, serving his first official visit to Brussels, holds high-rank meetings.

Today, he met with the Vice-President of the European Parliament, Klára Dobrev to discuss the certain steps supporting the EU integration of Georgia and future steps of the country.

In this regard, the parties stressed the application Georgia intends to make for EU membership in 2024. The parties touched upon the importance of timely and complete implementation of the document mediated by the European Council.

“We discussed the European way Georgia keeps and the important steps to be taken to make our application in 2024 not only real but feasible. Thus, we touched upon every important issue in our agenda except the details of the past developments because the Vice-President is well informed about it. We discussed our tomorrow – implementation of the document mediated by Charles Michel, fulfillment of the commitments and formation of the European political culture in our country the signs of which do exist.

The upcoming Summit where the Georgia issues will as well be discussed, first of all, underlines the importance of the discussion of the certain steps by them instead of a mere conversation about our membership sooner or later. These are the certain steps we discussed and we will be supported in taking these steps”, - the Speaker stated.
