The Assembly was attended by the Vice-Speaker, Kakha Kutchava, and MPs Kakha Kakhishvili, David Matikashvili, Irakli Zarkua and Levan Mgaloblishvili.
Karabakh was one of the top issues of the agenda. The parties noted that the peaceful resolution of this conflict is of no alternative for the economic and democratic development of the region.
G. Khelashvili dwelt on the situation in the occupied regions, touching upon the detention of the Georgian citizen Zaza Gakheladze by the de-facto authorities of Tshkinvali.
He underlined the aggressive actions of Russia, creeping occupation, and mentioned the necessity of international support in this process as human rights and humanitarian situation is further aggravating.
The parties discussed the experience in countering the pandemic. G. Khelashvili introduced the epidemic situation in Georgia and importance of economic rehabilitation.
The GUAM Observation members, observing the Parliamentary Elections in Georgia in 2020, note in their opinion that the elections were held providing the international democratic standards in a free and fair environment.
The parties also discussed the economic cooperating and noted that the free trade and transport corridor potential are to be effectively used.
The parties touched upon cooperation with the Baltic states etc. Besides, Georgia is to assume the presidency of the Democracy and Development Organization in 2021.
The Assembly has been attended by the Delegations of Azerbaijan, Moldova, Ukraine, as well as the Baltic Assembly, PABSEC, and Turkish-lingual countries.
