The verbal hearings by the Thematic Inquiry Group at the Sports and Youth Issues Committee

Supervision - News 19 May 2021
The verbal hearings by the Thematic Inquiry Group at the Sports and Youth Issues Committee

The Thematic Inquiry Group “Facilitation to Employment of the Youth” held its first verbal hearing.

The recommendations and positions were introduced by the legal entities and natural persons.

According to the Chair of the Committee, Mikheil Kavelashvili, the number of the recommendations and proposals manifested the importance of the facilitation of the employment of the youth.

The Group is aspired to study these proposals and issue the respective recommendations to the agencies.

Today, the Group heard the LEPL State Employment Agency, Association “Hera 21”, NAPR “Guild”, Georgian Employers’ Association, Youth Workers' Association of Georgia and natural persons.

“We received the recommendations from up to 20 organizations and today, we held the first verbal hearing with 6 of them and 2 persons. It is not a simple sphere as employment is an acute problem in the country, especially amongst the youth, which is the most important and vulnerable group. We all need to do our best to employ as many young persons as possible, providing them with career opportunities. And our thematic inquiry chases this very goal. We will discuss all the proposals, issue the report and recommendations and submit them to the respective agencies. Meanwhile, the Committee, within its oversight function, will monitor the fulfillment of the recommendations”, - the Chair stated.

The thematic inquiry is backed by the EU and UNDP and in cooperation with the WFD.
