Tamar Chugoshvili and PFP Assessment Team Members Discussed Importance and Continuity of Educational Exchange Program between Georgia and US
The First Vice Speaker, Tamar Chugoshvili held meeting with Martha Muco and Karen Aschaffenburg, members of the PFP Assessment Team.
Pursuant to Tamar Chugoshvili, this program has been executed in Georgia for a long time with the help of the United States Government and is planned for empowering individuals attracted by policy development and legislative activity to pursue internships in the United States, gain involvement in upgrading proficient aptitudes and become more acquainted with the USA.
“I was part of this program, when I got internship in 2010. It is an extraordinary encounter for youngsters to perceive how the institutions of their interest in the United States work and to turn out to be a part of the process themselves. It is currently being assessed how the program has functioned in our country and as the members of the Assessment Team have let me know, Georgia is one of the most successful among all countries in terms of extremely active participation in decision-making process of important issues for the country. They are anxious to proceed with this program and furnish other individuals with an opportunity to gain the internship in the United States. This meeting was interesting for me in helping to extend this program as long as possible to send as many people out of Georgia as possible and to give more young people the opportunity to intern with the US Legislature”, - Tamar Chugoshvili commented.
The purpose of the meeting was to evaluate the results of the program, exchange information and work closely with the legislature to retrain members of parliament.
Alumni of the Professional Fellows Program continue to work actively in the country's legislature and share their knowledge and experience with their counterparts in various departments or committees of Parliament.
