Tamar Taliashvili: It is paramount to strengthen our efforts to promote employment among young people through coordinated actions

The Committee convened the preparatory working meeting for the Thematic Inquiry on Promoting Employment among Young People.

At the online meeting, a British expert, Alistair Doherty, introduced the British model to the participants and shared the personal experience.

Deputy Chair of the Committee and Head of the Working Group, Tamar Taliashvili spoke about the importance of youth employment and introduced the proposals of local youth organizations to the participants of the meeting. According to her, this is an interdisciplinary topic and therefore it is important to get acquainted with the opinions of international experts and suggestions and recommendations of local organizations before starting the thematic inquiry.

"It is paramount to strengthen our efforts to promote employment among young people through coordinated actions. The youth have been economically affected by the pandemic-induced restrictions. The aim of the thematic inquiry is to develop recommendations that will help overcome the existing challenges”, - T. Taliashvili remarked.

The online meeting was attended by Viktor Sanikidze, First Deputy Chairman of the Sports and Youth Issues Committee, David Kacharava, Deputy Chairman of the Diaspora and Caucasus Issues Committee, and the Member of the same Committee, Zaza Lominadze, Giorgi Amilakhvari - First Deputy Chairman of the Education, Science and Culture Committee also participated in the meeting; Giorgi Khojevanishvili - First Deputy Chairman of the Self-Government and Regional Policy Committee; Ramina (Rima) Beradze - Member of the Healthcare and Social Issues Committee.

The thematic inquiry is supported by the WFD, EU and UNDP in Georgia.
