The Defense and Security and the Health Care and Social Issues Committees visited the Maro Makashvili Rehabilitation Center

The Defense and Security and the Health Care and Social Issues Committees accompanied by the Trust Group members visited the Rehabilitation Center at the Defense Ministry.

MPs heard the presentation about the Social Issues and Mental Support Department activity and got cognizant of the infrastructure and material-technical base of the Center.

MPs met with the wounded and injured soldiers and heard about the rehabilitation conditions.

“It is a unique and unprecedented rehabilitation institution without an analog in the region. It is equipped with ultramodern medical and rehabilitation devices to serve the wounded and injured soldiers and to meet their needs. The Center is a clear confirmation of a new social policy of Georgia envisaging particular care for the military personnel defending the integrity of Georgia and international peace risking their lives. I would like to express particular gratitude to our American partners for this project and respect to our military-men”, - the Chair of the Defense and Security Committee/Trust Group, Irakli Beraia stated.

The Center was open on January 27, 2020, initiated by the joint Georgian-American project funded by the US Government with 4.5 ml USD, and by the Georgian Defense Ministry with 1 ml GEL.

The Center is equipped with ultramodern and rehabilitation devices and meets the needs of the soldiers and their family members.
