The meeting of Dimitri Khundadze with the Head of WHO Georgia Office

The Chair of the Health Care and Social Issues Committee, Dimitri Khundadze and the Committee members – Vladimir Kakhadze and Levan Koberidze met the Head of WHO Georgia Office, Dr. Silviu Domente to discuss enforcement of the law on Tobacco Control and overview the technical support by WHO in implementation of the law.
“WHO operates in 194 countries worldwide. Georgia also hosts the WHO office for years and enjoys significant support by the organization. As you know, health care of the population is paramount for us, including sharing the WHO experience and their technical assistance. At the meeting with Dr. Domente, we discussed the revision of the law on Tobacco Control, its analysis and respective challenges. Naturally, the Committee adheres to the position that the number of smokers shall be gradually reduced in the country as the tobacco-entailed diseases claim thousands annually”, - D. Khundadze noted after the meeting.
