The meeting of the Legal Issues Committee Member, Shalva Shavgulidze with Interns

Sh. Shavgulidze spoke about structure, specifics of the Committee and stages of consideration of the drafts. He emphasized the current laws and institutions in law sphere, namely interrogation of the witness and jury institute, minor conviction strategy etc. He underlined importance of the Commission on Gaps in justice and noted that it is the mechanism for restoration of justice and public control thereon.
Sh. Shavgulidze also spoke on jury stating that this institute facilitates to independence of court, releases judges from possible pressure. He also answered the questions and wished interns successful internship. “I will be glad to see you attending our Committee sittings. If you need information or assistance any time on any issue, I am ready to cooperate with you”.
In 2015 there are 24 interns in the Parliament for 6 months period. They will be introduced to specifics of activity, structural units and routine activity of the staff. Internship also implies meetings with the Committee Chairs and MPs which is provided by HR Department.
