On July 21-22, the Open Governance Permanent Parliamentary Council and the Advisory Group discussed the Initiatives submitted for the Action Plan of the Open Parliament for 2021-2022.
The attendees considered the initiatives submitted by NGOs and the Public Defender.
The Chair of the OGPPC, Kakha Kutchava opened the meeting noting that the Council, in view of improvement of quality of transparency, uploaded the initiatives for the Action Plan 2021-2022 on the Parliamentary website for the wide society.
The hereof decision complies with the principle of openness and facilitates the civic engagement in the Council activity and public awareness.
The CEO of IDFI, Chair of the Advisory Group, Giorgi Kldiashvili underlined importance of the Parliamentary openness and hailed the involvement of Ajara Supreme Council in the OGP.
The UNDP representative, Nino Tsagareishvili addressed the attendees and noted that the UNDP backs the Parliamentary openness since 2015 and will further support the Parliament for the tangible outcomes.
The initiatives submitted are purposed to facilitate the accessibility to information, civic engagement, accountability and establishment of innovations.
The participants of the meeting reconciled on the mutually acceptable formulations to, providing the structural and functional peculiarities of the Parliament, serve as the precondition for optimal and effective activity and higher accountability.
K. Kutchava summed up the meeting and thanked the IDFI, EU and UNDP for their support, and the civil society for their engagement.
