The simulated Committee hearing held by the students in the Parliament
The Parliament hosted the simulated Legal Issues Committee hearing held by the students with the initiative of the Faction “Georgian Dream – Industrials” and Tbilisi State University.
The Chair of the Faction, Simon Nozadze welcomed the students and spoke about students’ involvement in the legislative process and importance of such format meetings.
The meeting is the analogue to the international project “World Students’ Debate Movement” where the students hold the European, regional and world championships in debates. “With this meeting, we want to facilitate to not only students’ involvement in the legislative process but to outline two more tasks – start composition of the team for the world championship; and let the youth “taste” political activity and feel that you can take active part in political life in a couple of years. Our country has the great future and it is related with you”.
He offered students to hold the regional championship with participation of Georgian, Armenian, Azerbaijani, Turkish and Russian students. The students introduced the reports on mediation, environmental protection and Article 115 of the Criminal Code (incitement to suicide) and held the political debates.
The event was attended by the representatives of the Students’ Parliament, Prosecutor’s Office and Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports.
