Media and Society 06 Apr 2021
Meeting of Members of Friendship Group with Turkish Parliament and Representatives of Business Sector at Turkish Embassy

At the joint initiative of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey, H.E. Fatma Ceren Yazgan and the Head of the Friendship Group to the Parliament of the Republic of Turkey, Chairman of the Diaspora and Caucasus Issues Committee, Beka Odisharia, the meeting of members of the Friendship Group with the Turkish Parliament and representatives of Turkish businessmen and business sector operating in Georgia was held at the Embassy.

The sides discussed the directions of trade and economic cooperation between Georgia and Turkey, where it was noted that the projects implemented with Turkish investments during the COVID Pandemic are paramount for the economic development of Georgia.

"I am very glad that despite the pandemic, we were able to invite and organize a meeting at the embassy. I think that our cooperation lacked a small part, which was a union of Georgian parliamentarians and Turkish businessmen, and with today's meeting we have completed this link in the chain of cooperation”, - the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey stated.

B. Odisharia thanked the Turkish diplomat for the interesting meeting and hospitality, noting that the Ambassador promotes and deepens Turkey-Georgia relations through her daily activities.

According to him, it is noteworthy that almost all of the Turkish businessmen working in Georgia speak Georgian, which shows great respect for the host country and its culture.

"It is a great honor for me to lead the inter-parliamentary friendship group of one of the most important countries, a regional leader, together with my esteemed colleagues. With today's meeting, the Ambassador's really filled the niche, because the politics of any country is still based on a strong economy and the good faith of the taxpayer. Turkish investments and their contribution to the Georgian economy are especially important. Therefore, we welcome the entry of many experienced companies in Georgia, as well as each lira and cent, which will help our economic development”, - B. Odisharia stated.

Members of the Parliament of Georgia, representatives of the friendship group greeted the participants of the meeting held at the Embassy and noted the importance of today's event.
