Genadi Margvelashvili: There has to be a map comprising a separate location for each and every of us in education
The Chair of the Education, Science and Culture Committee, Genadi Margvelashvili delivered a welcoming speech at the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation's 2019 Conclusive Event hosted by Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University.
“The national idea of education that we focus on systematically is absolutely essential to the future growth of the country's GDP with the inclusion of all four stages of education, the crowning of which is science – perfected and implemented with precise mathematics. From the Parliament’s view point, we have assumed very important decisions at all four stages of education. It is a preschool reform that is embedded with Iakob Gogebashvili's idea envisaging that it is better for a child to be able to create a toy than to play with it directly. We have also made great strides in the sphere of general education - such as decent farewell of teachers or recruitment of new staff, transformation of the national curriculum to the point where teens are able to think independently and find interest in going to school. Vocational education reform is also important. We also hail the enrollment of higher education to the ENQA for 5 years, as well as the enrollment of the scientific field to the EURAXESS, which is more important to scientists than visa liberalization. It is precisely these stages of education that require deep scientific research. There has to be a map comprising a separate location for each and every of us in education. There has to be an idea with which we all will unite”, - Genadi Margvelashvili noted.
The event was dedicated to the results of the programs and projects implemented by the Foundation in 2019, including the priorities and plans for 2020.
