Guguli Magradze participated in the Project “Historical Crossroad, New Approaches to Teaching and Learning”
The Deputy Chair of the Education, Science and Culture Committee, Guguli Magradze attended the first working meeting of the Project “Historical Crossroad, New Approaches to Teaching and Learning” discussing the conflict-sensitive teaching challenges in education system.
The Project is organized by “Center for Peacemaking and Community Development“ (CPCD) and aims at facilitation of transformative approaches to Georgian-Abkhazian and Georgian-Ossetian conflicts and their integration into the newest history education process.
G. Magradze stressed the current state in education system related to the conflicts and stated that TSU is the only University holding the conflict analysis and management Master’s and Doctoral programs developed in cooperation with “George Mason University’s School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution” and meets its master’s program standards.
The social sciences, education and psychology programs shall include the conflict analysis to develop the skills of the students in various level conflict resolution and prevention, she noted.
The meeting was attended by the representatives of the Education, Science, Culture and Sports Ministry, historians, authors of the text-books, Teachers’ Trade Unions, pedagogues, conflict transformation experts and NGOs. The project is backed by COBERM.
