Irina Pruidze - We are launching comprehensive public considerations to develop a unified state concept of youth policy
The second meeting of the State Youth Policy Monitoring and Development Working Group at the Sports and Youth Issues Committee was opened by the Head, Irina Pruidze.
The Group, which has been established with the initiative of the Sports and Youth Issues Committee this year, is composed of the representatives of the legislative and executive authorities, youth organizations and engaged experts.
“The aim of the Working Group is to elaborate on the youth policy, evaluate previous policies and plan future steps. For this matter, we first need to define the goals we have for the youth, and then develop a plan to achieve the intended outcome. The UN Youth Coordination Group and experts assist us in this process, for which we express our gratitude toward them", - Irina Pruidze stated.
Attendees discussed the future plans at the first meeting. Since then, a lot has been carried out to evaluate the country's youth policy and the action plan.
At today's meeting, the expert Nina Gogoladze presented a comparative analysis of EU Member States' successful practices in the field of youth policy, recommendations on youth policy management and coordination, and assessment of the status of implementation of the Georgian Youth Policy Action Plan.
The meeting focused on the merit of the UN Coordination Group on youth issues in the development of youth policy.
“We have been working on youth development issues for many years now, as we face various challenges, both at the global and local levels, and it has become necessary to redefine the concept of youth policy according to new challenges. This process is very open, and we support the inclusion of all and work together to develop policies that address the common needs of young people”, - the UN Population Fund Analyst, Natalia Zakareishvili.
Priorities and future plans were dwelt upon by the Head of the LEPL Youth Agency Rezo Charkviani. According to him, fundamental reform in the youth field is to be undertaken, and one of the main challenges in this regard is to create an ecosystem. "No field, whether it be entrepreneurial, creative, logistical or otherwise, can exist without an ecosystem", - he noted.
During the meeting the members of the Working Group discussed the methodologies of concept development and other issues related to the topic.
The meeting was summarized by the Head of the Working Group: “We discussed the recommendations compiled by the experts on how the future youth policy coordination mechanisms and future action plan should look like. We are launching comprehensive public considerations to develop a unified state concept of youth policy. These discussions will involve the youth of all regions, and as a result we will create a document that will ultimately be approved by the Parliament".
