The meeting of Dimitri Khundadze with the Representative of WHO Special Mission

The Chair of the Health Care and Social Issues Committee, Dimitri Khundadze hosted the WHO Special Mission visiting Georgia.
The parties discussed the high-quality safe medicines, their provision and accessibility thereto. As noted, the legal base on the pharmaceutical sector in effect since 2009 is outdated and fails to meet modern challenges.
D. Khundadze and the Mission members dwelt on the opportunity of engagement of the WHO experts in the reforming of the healthcare sector in Georgia.
“In coordination with the international and local experts, we are to commence development of the legal changes in compliance with modern challenges. The updates to the law aim at provision of the population with high-quality, effective and safe medicines in an accessible manner”, - D. Khundadze noted.
The WHO Special Mission is headed by the Director of the WHO European Regional Office Medical Technologies and Medicines Department,Sarah Garner.
The Mission is composed of the Department coordinator, Dorina Pirgari and the Healthcare Economist and Healthcare System advisor.
