Sports Committee 22 Jan 2016
The meeting of the Deputy-Chair of Sports and Youth Issues Committee, Shota Khabareli with Interns and Practitioners

Shota Khabareli met with interns and practitioners. he spoke about the most important events of his professional experience and career and recalled his life in sports, then introduced the functions and activity of the Committee. He noted that sports development program was hardly being implemented in recent years but significant progress is already evident due to correct implementation of the oversight function of the Committee.

The positive changes are evident in financing as well – financing increased with 20 ml GEL. He touched upon the problems still existing – absence of qualified personnel on the governing positions of the federations, grave situation in winter sport, lack of propaganda on healthy lifestyle etc. “Having numerous mining resorts in the country, it is inadmissible that we have the only license on European games and it requires hard work, including creation of sport schools, sport clubs to facilitate development of winter sport”.

The initiatives shall be enhanced on the law-basis, besides, the elementary schools shall provide various sport programs.

He also answered the questions.

The meetings with interns are of regular character and serves for increase of transparency of Parliamentary activity, involvement in the legislative process and more openness. The meeting was attended by the HR Department Head, Marine Asatiani.
