Genadi Margvelashvili: Quality preschool education is paramount for both academic and social success at the postgraduate level
The Thematic Inquiry Group at the Education, Science and Culture Committee on Equal Access to Quality Preschool Education for All Children held the online meeting with the representatives of preschool unions, NGOs and international organizations.
According to the Chairman of the Committee, Genadi Margvelashvili, quality preschool education empowers the children to absorb how to adapt to changes, develop appropriate skills and overcome the prevailing problems - "Getting quality pre-school education is paramount for both academic and social success at the postgraduate level", - G. Margvelashvili remarked.
The participants discussed the recommendations for access to pre-school education and touched upon the situation in preschool institutions, existing challenges, and the ways to their resolution.
The Thematic Inquiry is backed by USAID's Democratic Governance Initiative.
The Committee has identified the study of the current situation in terms of equal access to quality preschool education as one of the priority directions in the 2020 Action Plan.
It is for this very purpose that the Committee employs the tool defined by the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament of Georgia - Thematic Inquiry.
Its purpose is to identify the challenges in ensuring access to quality preschool education for all children; assess the current state of enforcement of the Law of Georgia on Early and Preschool Education; prepare a documented conclusion based on the analysis of the information received during the investigation; make recommendations to the relevant agencies in view to assume effective steps in response to the identified challenges.
