Georgia hosts the Tennis Tournament “Cup of the Parliament of Georgia 2019”

Mziuri Tennis Courts host the Tennis Tournament “Cup of the Parliament of Georgia 2019” participated by MPs and staffers, as well as the diplomatic corps, international organizations, business sector and tennis players.
According to the Majority Leader, Archil Talakvadze, the Parliament supports promotion of sports and healthy lifestyle: “The tennis championship for amateurs is being held under the aegis of the Parliament to promote sports and healthy lifestyle, which is crucial as it is directly related to the future of our country, welfare of the society, physical activity, youth engagement in sports. We want to serve the model for our friends and colleagues. Along with infrastructural development, we open more and more stadiums, improve infrastructure and strive to show our friends that physical activity is crucial along with labor and sports is necessary for mental and physical health. I would like to thank the organizers and sponsors and wish good luck to the participants”.
The tournament is also participated by the Chair of the Procedural Issues and Rules Committee, Giorgi Kakhiani, Deputy Chair of the Diaspora and Caucasus Issues Committee, Irakli Mezurnishvili and the Secretary General, Givi Mikanadze.
I. Mezurnishvili: “It is the Parliamentary Cup which, I believe, will become of the annual nature. I would like to thank the Parliament and the Staff, as well as the Tennis Federation and Alexander Metreveli Courts. It is a good tradition we established to promote tennis, development of sports and establishment of the healthy lifestyle”.
G. Kakhiani: “We were supported by the Tennis Federation in organizing the tournament which we are extremely grateful for. The tournament aims at promoting healthy lifestyle and in this term, the Parliament holds various activities”.
According to G. Mikanadze, it is the first tennis tournament in history of the Parliament echoing the healthy lifestyle and promoting the sports. “We are glad to see so many people willing to participate. I believe, the tournament will become a tradition and on annual basis, we will have the opportunity to extend the scope of the tournament to even maybe the international level inviting MPs and staffers from the Parliaments of other countries”.
The tournament has up to 70 participants and the final sets will be held on May 12. The winner will be awarded the Cup and the Certificate.
