Givi Mikanadze introduced the Distance Education Internship Pilot Program to the Students of Tbilisi Universities

The Secretary General of the Parliament, Mr. Givi Mikanadze hosted the students and introduced the unprecedented model of distance internship.
He provided the information about the internship rules in the structural units of the Parliament and overviewed the novelties envisaged under the distance internship. “1.5 years ago, we established the brand new internship mechanism in the Parliament with no analog in other public institutions. It is a unique and in-depth 6-month course envisaging realization of the theoretical knowledge of the youth into the professional skills, which is oriented to one certain direction. Providing the outcomes of the internship program, we encountered necessity of its extension to cover not only the students residing in Tbilisi but the students countrywide. Every concerned citizen is allowed to be engaged in internship. That is why, the parliament developed the distance internship idea”, - he noted.
Mr. Mikanadze introduced the rules and conditions for distance internship and the terms to be met by the internship-seekers.
The first stage envisages the pilot process.
The number of the participants is limited – four interns from the regions and two from Tbilisi.
The internship covers two directions – human resource management and international relations.
As to engagement in distance internship, the seekers shall meet the criterion as follows:
- Georgian citizenship;
- Fluent Georgian language;
- Bachelor’s Degree of the University accredited in Georgia, or the student of at least the graduating semester of the Bachelor’s program.
The Secretary General elucidated the rules for the competition and noted that after the applications are shortlisted, the seekers will be invited to the tests in Georgian language and computer skills.
The last stage envisages the interviews.
The applications shall be submitted within the term of January 8-January 20, 2020, and the shortlisting process shall be accomplished as for February 10.
“There are no analogs of distance internship in any of the Parliaments worldwide and Parliament of Georgia is the first to establish the “online” internship program. Hence, the process of the pilot program is important and further development thereof and introduction of the new directions will depend on its outcomes”, - Mr. Mikanadze stated.
He has already met with the students of Gori and Akhaltsikhe Universities and schedules similar meetings in Kutaisi, Zugdidi and Batumi in January.
