Kakhaber Kuchava: SIDA will enhance technical assistance in environmental protection

According to the Chair of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee, Kakhaber Kuchava plans enhanced cooperation with SIDA, as he stated after the meeting of the Speaker with SIDA Director General.
“For years, SIDA technical assistance was important for Georgia and we are glad to hear that assistance will be further increased. We discussed environmental protection priority for SIDA, we planned the future steps and cooperation. There are the issues where we can share Swedish experience and strive to assist us in this field to develop the maximally productive policy for Georgia in the long-term run”.
The particular emphasis was made on reforming in environmental sphere in Georgia. “We discussed various directions. We have the forest reform to be implemented, water reform, mining reform – all these issues are of interest of SIDA. We need to create the long-term approach for the country and to create the system ensuring sustainable development of environmental protection standards”.
