Today, the Ministry of Education hosts the awarding ceremony of the winners of the national school Olympiads and IT tournament.

The MPs: Mariam Jashi, Genadi Margvelashvili and Levan Gogichaishvili awarded the winners. The national school Olympiad is held annually with participation of approximately 100 000 pupils.

According to M. Jashi, the Olympiad 2017 revealed 124 winners who were awarded with the computer devices and accessories in the amount of 1000, 700, 500 and 50 GEL and the diplomas. MPs delivered the orders of gratitude to 36 successful schools.

“Successful pupils taking the leading positions in the national Olympiads will participate in the international Olympiads in the future. Establishment of this Olympic practice and improvement of this system is paramount for improvement of education quality and encouragement of the pupils. This year, we had extraordinary results – Georgian pupils gained 14 international Olympic medals and we want this number to annually increase”, - M. Jashi stated.

The school Olympiads is the platform preparing the pupils for the international theatre. “It is important not only in terms of encouragement of the children but in terms of recognition of the pedagogues and improvement of healthy competition between the schools”, - she noted.
