Sitting of Factions Constituting Parliamentary Majority

Several political fractions included in the Parliamentary Majority: “Georgian Dream”, “Georgian Dream – Conservatives”, “Georgian Dream – Entrepreneurs”, “The Georgian Dream for Development of Regions”, “Georgian Dream – Strong Economy”, “Georgian Dream – for Powerful Georgia” convened the joint sitting to harp on the declaration of vote of confidence to the new Government and the Government Program for 2019-2020.
The Majority Leader, George Volski addressed both the PM Candidate as well as other candidates for the new Government.
“We had quite intense discussions in the formats of the committees. About 300 questions were asked, and we heard quite in-depth answers. There were likewise addresses, endeavors of demolition, there were business exchanges. Considering previous practices, perhaps we have not had such extensive discussion around the Government composition. It is worth the patience, constructiveness and aspiration to provide the public with as much information as possible, not only on past activities but on future plans, which should become a key resource for the Government candidates to receive majority support, not only in Parliament but also in society.
I will no longer address the peripetas that shockingly occurred in this structure and which have absolutely nothing to do with the content or history of the discussions for which we have gathered. Even though no one is to blame, yet the media was actually forced to switch to scandalous topics while there were rather interesting topics in this hall. Those discussions were primarily on all issues - education, defense, future visions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Economy or Infrastructure, conflict resolution and reconciliation, very interesting topics were also discussed in terms of agriculture, social and health issues", - George Volski reported.
After the Majority Leader, the ground was given to the PM Candidate, Giorgi Gakharia, who, in his turn, focused on the main priorities of the Program.
“I would like to express my grattitude for the opportunity to address you with this status today. It is a great honor and a great responsibility, at the same time. Above all, I would also like to thank you for the constructive discussion that, to my knowledge, has taken place with my colleague Ministers and for the contextual conversations that have already yielded specific results allowing me able to assure you that this will be reflected in both the program and the sittings of tomorrow.
Today, given that this part of our discussion today will also be reflected in our appeal to tomorrow's Parliament, we believe it is better to go straight to the point and talk about specific actions. I might also want to underscore that the cornerstone of our program in general will be activity, proficiency and results. We have had many successful, well-implemented initiatives in recent years. We had a dozen of good, new programs, however we as a whole concur that this year should be a time of explicit activities, impacts, and results. Consequently, we accept that every one of our natives esteems our work with solid outcomes and we need to speak increasingly about explicit cases rather than initiatives. This methodology, I am certain, will be bolstered by you also", - Giorgi Gakharia noted.
The sitting of the Fractions continued in question and answer format. Questions posed by the members of majority were concerning the developments of June 20-21, poverty reduction and social policy areas, restoration of territorial integrity and the long-term vision of de-occupation, sustainability of the national currency, land reform expected results, relationship between business and government, foreign policy achievements and results, prospects for future reforms in education, elimination of errors in national program of social assistance, structural reorganization of ministries and infrastructure projects of the region. The questions of MPs were extensively answered by Giorgi Gakharia and other Minister Candidates.
At the end of the sitting of the Factions included in the Parliamentary Majority, the PM Candidate again tended to the MPs and expressed gratitude toward them for their certainty.
"First of all, I would like to thank you for your trust. I would like to emphasize once again that this is a great honor, a great responsibility. I need you to realize that the standard we have chipped away at will be fewer initiatives and more work, efficiency and, of course, integrity. We will do our best to make our bureaucracy compelling and reliable, for this situation trust me that we can request more from both our opponents and our residents to help us and work with us 24 hours per day to build up this nation”, - Giorgi Gakharia concluded.
