The briefing by Salome Samadashvili

National Movement 08 May 2019
The briefing by Salome Samadashvili

The Deputy Chair of the Faction “National Movement”, Salome Samadashvili calls on the Government to fulfill the recommendations issued by the USA, EU and CoE. Recently, Georgia visited the high level Delegations from the USA and Europe to study the upcoming elections.

“The main topic of the visits was the political future of Georgia and namely, upcoming elections. The USA, EU and CoE have jointly submitted the list of the recommendations for Georgian Government to be fulfilled in the nearest future to consider the upcoming Parliamentary elections in Georgia as fair and democratic, and correspondingly as legitimate. In diplomatic words, it means that if Georgia wants to be a European state, if Georgia wants to be the part of the Trans-Atlantic space, you have to hold the democratic elections. We have been telling you what to do to ensure the democratic elections”.

Recommendations envisage that the changes related to the electoral milieu shall be developed by means of the political consensus.

The second important aspect concerns formation of the electoral administration.

“Without the fair elections, we cannot achieve peace. Our friends and partners tell us about the ways how to hold the fair elections, how to maintain stability, democracy and peaceful development of Georgia”.
