The meeting of Tamar Chugoshvili with the Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Latvian Saeima
The First Vice Speaker, Tamar Chugoshvili, the Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee Sophio Katsarava and the First Deputy Chair of the EU Integration Committee, Irina Pruidze met with the Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Latvian Saeima, Rihards Kols.
The parties discussed EU integration of Georgia, progress and future plans, and coordinated cooperation of Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova with the EU. As noted, Baltic countries strongly support Western integration of Georgia.
The parties touched upon the PACE decision concerning the Russian Delegation and agreed to hold the coordination meeting in September jointly by Georgia, Latvia and other partner states to discuss hereof decision.
“In my opinion, PACE has grossly readmitted Russia to the organization. This is the decision that the Baltic countries, including Latvia and our partner countries – Ukraine and others are concerned about. We believe that we shall cooperate to maintain the reputation of CoE put to risk with the last decision, which is highly damaging the CoE itself. Correspondingly, we will hold the coordination meeting in September with the CoE states believing this decision to be a mistake. We will jointly agree on further cooperation with CoE after these developments”, - T. Chugoshvili noted.
