The Working Group on the Civic Engagement Center at the Permanent Parliamentary Open Government Council approved the Concept of the Center
The Working Group held the resuming meeting and approved the concept of the Civic Engagement Center.
“It is the brand new vision about the reception of the citizens in the Parliament and the new space for relations with the population. This concept envisages the best services for the citizens in the Parliament and through the e-communications to ensure the Parliament being familiar with the population. This is our aspiration. The concept envisages the novelties. The document has been developed by the experts, the Staff of the Parliament and hence, we will have a good Civic Engagement Center according to the new model and with new services”, - the Head of the Group, Eka Beselia noted.
According to the Chair of the Council, Irine Pruidze, it is important that the 4th commitment of the OGP Action Plan for 2018-2019 is being implemented. “The Civic Engagement Center is a novelty not only for us but in other countries as well. Establishment of the Center in the Parliament is a declaration that we attach the greatest importance to engagement of the citizens in the Parliamentary activity and I am glad that this concept envisages much more than we have outlined at the initial stage”, - she noted.
According to the concept, the Civic Engagement Center shall ensure support to the increased oversight function of the Parliament and provision of the adapted services deriving from the needs of the vulnerable groups.
The Secretary General of the Parliament, Givi Mikanadze introduced the goals, objectives and the activities envisaged under the concept. According to him, the Center will offer the “one stop service” in the reception for the citizens. “One stop service will make the service for the citizens more effective and will increase internal coordination and communication quality between the structural units”, - he noted.
The concept outlines the activities for the structural units of the Parliament and the issues concerning awareness of the children at the general education stage about the Parliamentary activity, public awareness of cooperation with the Ministry of Justice etc.
The sitting was attended by the representatives of NDI, GIZ and UNDP.
