Mariam Jashi: Romanian Parliament unequivocally bolsters Georgia's European Path
The Delegation of the Parliament of Georgia, with the representation of Mariam Jashi, Isko Daseni and Simon Nozadze, held high-level meetings in the Senate of Romania and Chamber of Deputies.
Georgian delegation met with the Chair of the Education, Science, Youth and Sports Committee of the Chamber of Deputies, Sorin Mihai Cimpeanu, the Chair of the Education, Science, Youth and Sports Committee of the Senate, Liviu Marian Pop, the Vice-President of the Romania-Georgia Parliamentary Friendship Group, Laszlo-Odon Fager, the Secretary of the Economic Policy, Reforms and Privatization Commission, George Gabriel Visan, the Member of the Defense and National Security Committee, Corneliu Mugurel Cozmanciuc, and the Chair of the of the Culture, Arts and the Mass Media Committee of the Senate, Lucian Romascanu.
At the meetings, the Romanian side reaffirmed its unwavering support for Georgia's Euro-Atlantic integration and the objectives of further enhancing the economic, tourism and cultural collaboration between the two countries.
The Senate and the Chamber of Deputies will support the creation of extra opportunities for Georgian students to study in Romania and launch a dialogue on the opening of the Romanian Institute of Culture in Tbilisi.
“At the meetings held in the Romanian Parliament we discussed the legislation and specific initiatives in the fields of education, science, culture and mass media. All high-level meetings have confirmed that Romania unequivocally bolsters Georgia's European path. The Group of Friendship with Romania, headed by Mr. Isko Daseni, assumes an important role in strengthening the ties between the two countries", - Mariam Jashi commented.
"Georgia-Romania relations have never been over this benchmark, and all the more critically, the foreign ministries plan to bring our countries to a strategic level of cooperation", - Isko Daseni noted.
“Georgia boasts with 300 years of cultural ties with Romania. With this visit, we were once again convinced how much the Romanian people and the church esteem the work of the Georgian martyr Antimoz Iverieli. Cooperation in the fields of education, science and culture will be further reinforced”, - Simon Nozadze stated.
