Meeting of Mamuka Mdinaradze with Ambassador of Germany, Hubert Knirsch

The Vice-Speaker, leader of Majority, Mamuka Mdinaradze met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Georgia, H.E. Hubert Knirsch.
The parties dwelt on the recent political developments in Georgia.
According to M. Mdinaradze, one of the issues that the sincere meeting with the Ambassador focused on was the recent critical remarks made by the European colleagues.
“In certain cases, and such cases were, unfortunately, common, the basis for the critical remarks was wrong information. One of the examples that I shared with the guest was the allegation as if Bidzina Ivanishvili threatened the opposition with imprisonment for some time. This false information that was spread around by one of the Fake News Agencies inspired one of the lawmakers to make a statement from the High Tribune of Europe. When such false stories are retold to the MEPs without any verification, it is natural that the assessment will not be relevant”, - M. Mdinaradze noted.
According to the Vice-Speaker, the parties discussed sundry issues regarding the electoral reform, including OSCE/ODIHR recommendations, most of which are considered by the ruling party and the 5th round of dialogue with the opposition on electoral system.
As M. Mdinaradze stated, certain problems regarding the communication with foreign partners will soon be eliminated and therefore, there are positive expectations.
"As Mr. Hubert Knirsch has promised, our information will also be fully accessible to the authorities in Germany and hence, we reserve the reasonable and positive expectation to the resumption of communication. There have been some communication problems, as the party-affiliated heads of foreign issues are not members of our team, but this problem will soon be eliminated. At this, we have a positive expectation that we will not receive the wrong criticism from the high tribune of Europe based on the wrong information. Every government deserves criticism, everybody has some flaws, some mistakes, but objective criticism is more acceptable than that based on Fake News”, - the Vice-Speaker commented.
As he added, there is a similar situation with American partners - "For example, in 2012, our opponents misreported to the US Congressmen as if Imedi TV was taken from its rightful owner, but in fact, the broadcasting company was returned to Badri Patarkatsishvili's family. Then the congressmen retracted their statement. In view to receive objective criticism and objective assessments in this case too, we have to do such work with our colleagues. In the end, we reserve positive expectations”, - Mamuka Mdinaradze concluded.
